Meeting of L&E Global in Istanbul – report by Alina Giżejowska, attorney-at-law
We have just concluded another annual L&E Global meeting, an organization we joined as a law firm in 2012, with the shared goal of providing comprehensive, top-tier labor law support worldwide. We are pleased to say that we collaborate with over 30 law firms associated with L&E Global and can meet our clients’ needs in nearly every corner of the world.
This time, from October 2 to 4, 2024, we were in Istanbul, hosted by the law firm Moroğlu Arseven, which became a member of L&E Global last year.
Our clients also participate in our meetings, giving them the opportunity to see firsthand how we build cooperation and relationships with lawyers from around the world, as well as how we use these occasions to broaden our perspective on labor law developments across all continents. This year, we learned how investigative procedures are conducted in different companies (for example, in Mexico, the use of polygraphs is permissible in such investigations) and how various countries approach the issue of pay transparency (everyone is currently watching Europe, awaiting the effects of legal changes and our first experiences). We also discussed the impact of AI on our work as lawyers today and in the future (it must be admitted that generational differences are particularly noticeable here) and the growing role that cultural differences play with our clients (for example, not everyone treats deadlines or work plans with the same level of commitment).
We also had the chance to experience the true atmosphere of Istanbul, like when we walked back to the hotel through the crowded streets near Taksim Square in the evening — catching a taxi was nearly impossible. Or when, at night, we enjoyed the full panorama of the city and the Bosphorus from an open terrace on the thirtieth floor. Our friends from L&E Global also organized a tour of Yerebatan Sarayı and the Sultan’s Topkapi Palace, where the Treasury and the Harem made a huge iimpression.
The annual L&E Global meetings are always an opportunity to connect with outstanding labor law attorneys from around the world, with whom we share a highly valuable professional friendship. We have known some of them for many years, and the value of these relationships cannot be overstated. Thanks to these connections, we can offer our clients support on an international level.
